VoteMoCo is an independent, civic-tech project for Montgomery County, Maryland voters. Our first release supports the 2026 primary election: county races, Board of Education races, and (optionally) Maryland state legislative races affecting the county.
Goals
- Help residents quickly find candidates whose positions line up with theirs.
- Make the reasoning transparent and overridable — never a black-box recommendation.
- Respect privacy by default. No login, no name, no exact address.
- Generate a polished, shareable slate image that voters can refer back to.
What we are not
- Not an official voter guide. The Montgomery County Board of Elections is the official source.
- Not a campaign or PAC. We do not endorse candidates.
- Not a partisan tool. We support both Democratic and Republican primary races, and nonpartisan races.
- Not a Get-Out-The-Vote vendor — though anonymous trends from VoteMoCo may inform local civic research.
Future: a public data repository
We plan to publish all candidate stances, signals, sources, and even the research prompts used to compile them in a separate public-but-read-only GitHub repository. That way every claim in this tool can be inspected, traced, and challenged. See the project’s methodology page for the current approach.
